Dear Members and Well Wishers,

Capital Area Telugu Society (CATS) established in 2005, is a non-profit organization formed to serve Telugu community in the Washington DC metro area. Our Capitol region comprises of Northern Virginia and Maryland, surrounding Washington, DC.

Its primary mission is to promote the language of Telugu, arts and culture. It is also a goal to integrate and promote Telugu community with other communities in the area. Since 2005 CATS is actively promoting the language of Telugu and helping next generation learn the language through regular classes and camps. CATS is promoting culture through various events that focus on Religion, Festivals, Dance, Music and Sports. CATS is promoting volunteer service by the community through its charitable activities that focus on Health Camps and Food Drives.

It is my honor to serve this esteemed society as the President for term 2022-23. Through vision and commitment previous presidents have contributed to significant growth of the organization.I promise you all that I will keep up the pace and strive to promote the organization in other areas and Cultural values among the community and pass on the heritage to our future generations with the help and support from you all and the generous donors

CATS plans during this term would include:

  1. Expanding organization to serve more Telugu community by increasing membership
  2. Promote the language through Manabadi (with Silicon Andhra), Summer Camps, Cultural Shows and Drama
  3. Promote cultural activities that include local talent
  4. Increase participation of Adults and Youth in Activities
  5. Increase participation of community in volunteer activities and continue the tradition of Health Camps and Food/Cloth Donations
  6. Promote traditional sports like Kabadi, Carrom's, Chess, Cricket and Shuttle

Members and Donors are the backbone of the Association contributing to its financial strength and without whose support we wouldn't have been able to organize the events throughout the year. I request members and Donors to continue the same level of generosity to sustain and improve the standards of the programs for the benefit of our community and to maintain CATS as the standard bearer of Telugu in the DC Metro. The success of the programs is nothing but the result of our meticulous planning, teamwork and execution by our Committee and Volunteers.

Your feedback and suggestions are extremely valuable to us and are always welcome. If you have any ideas or programs that you wish to see implemented, please feel free to share with us. Finally follows us on and by subscribing to our community newsletters.

Thank You and Sincerely,
Sathish Vaddi
