Capitol Area Telugu Society (CATS) is a non-profit organization devoted to the awareness and promotion
of Telugu culture in the Washington D.C. Metro Area (application for
becoming a non-profit is filed and pending). Formed in 2005, it intends
to be the best amongst the Indo-American organizations.
CATS was formed primarily to provide a choice for Telugus and to expand
on services provided to Telugus in the Capitol Area. CATS will be providing
new services in several areas. CATS will be active and contribute back
to communities we live in through
- Volunteering and Charitable activities
- Professional Development
- Business Development
- Linking youth to the Telugu owned businesses via internships and
mentorship's, a long overdue service that our community
needs.
- Participation in the local, regional, and national political activities
and having a solid representation that affect our lives is crucial
as our numbers grow in this region.
Also, CATS is bringing forth a novel
idea by providing a platform to anyone in the community
to bring forward a new idea in the interest of the community to be fully
developed into a project (a small idea or a big one). This allows the
organization to be very open by serving as an “incubator”
for great ideas.
Finally, CATS is an innovator when it comes to new ideas and is designed
to be the “next-generation” type of organization. For example,
there is strong emphasis to include our youth in the operational aspects
of the organization
